Palazzo Strozzi
Palazzo Strozzi is an ideal destination for a journey into the discovery of art
Palazzo Strozzi is one of the greatest masterpieces of Florentine architecture, a symbol of Renaissance style, gorgeous and imposing, built since 1489 on Benedetto da Maiano’s design.
It is characterized by three large portals and it is the perfect example of the noble residence of the Renaissance. The characteristic cubic form lays on three floors enclosing the central courtyard.
On the outside, it is possible to admire works by Niccolò Grosso, known as ‘Caparra’, the most famous blacksmith of the city of the time: the doormats, the darts, the flagpoles and the horseshoes.
Located just six hundred metres from our bed and breakfast in Florence for families, today it is a landmark for the world of art, with the historic Vieusseux Cabinet with its library, the institutes dedicated to the Renaissance and humanist sector, and the prestigious and Important exhibitions.
The section dedicated to the latter is open every day from 09:00 to 20:00.
The Centro di Cultura Contemporanea Strozzina (centre of contemporary culture Strozzina) is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 to 20:00, with free admission every Thursday after 18:00. On the same day, both spaces are opened until 23:00.
There are many activities dedicated to families, children and teenagers, and to all those who want to get closer and get involved by the world of art.
