Verrocchio Master of Leonardo Exhibition in Florence

The Verrocchio Master of Leonardo Exhibition in Florence arrives at Palazzo Strozzi from 9 March to 14 July 2019. It falls just in the year anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci celebrates his teacher Andrea del Verrocchio, symbolic artist of the Renaissance in Florence.

The works on display are over 120 paintings, sculptures and drawings from the world’s leading museums and collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of New York, the Musée du Louvre in Paris, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Gallerie degli Uffizi in Florence.

The exhibition features masterpieces by Andrea del Verrocchio and works by the most famous artists of the second half of the fifteenth century related to his workshop, such as Domenico Ghirlandaio, Sandro Botticelli, Pietro Perugino and Leonardo da Vinci, his most famous pupil, also reconstructing Leonardo’s early artistic career and interaction with his master thanks to outstanding loans and unprecedented juxtapositions.

It will be possible to admire the artistic production in Florence in the time of Lorenzo the Magnificent, between 1460 and 1490 approximately.

A special section of the exhibition is at the Bargello National Museum.

The exhibition is curated by two of the leading experts of the art of the fifteenth century, Francesco Caglioti and Andrea De Marchi.
